Choosing your Primary Care Physician (PCP)
Choosing the right primary care physician is crucial for maintaining good health and preventing chronic illnesses. A primary care physician who understands your medical history, listens to your concerns, and provides personalized care can improve your overall well-being and help you make informed decisions about your health. You can choose the provider who best meets your and your family’s needs by location, specialty or language.
A PCP can be a general or family practice doctor who cares for your entire family, or a pediatrician or internal medicine physician, and perform critical functions in your overall health including:
- Providing comprehensive medical care, including diagnosing and treating illnesses, managing chronic conditions, and prescribing medications.
- Perform routine check-ups and preventative care services such as vaccinations, health screenings, and health counseling to help patients maintain optimal health and prevent future health problems.
- Coordinate with other healthcare professionals to ensure that patients receive appropriate medical care, including referrals to specialists when needed, and they provide ongoing care management to support patients throughout their healthcare journey.
Star’s network of top-quality PCPs are knowledgeable, empathetic, and attentive to your needs, providing comprehensive, patient-centered care while fostering a strong doctor-patient relationship. Please refer to our Provider Directory to choose the right Star PCP for you and your family.
